America Travel´s founding partners began with the dream of creating a project called "Rescue the Train and its Traditions," which began with field research and comprehensive study over the course of 3 months. On the 15th of September 2001, the original founders made the first tour in train under the name ¨Paseo en Tren la Tica¨ (The Tico Train Tour). This first tour in train created the original idea of sharing with both citizens and tourists one of the most beautiful, interesting, and lively traditions of Costa Rica's past. Before that first tour in train, passenger trains in Costa Rica had been out of service for more than twelve years.
After operating the famous, traditional Paseo en Tren a la Tica for several years with great success, America Travel continues to develop many additional options in the tourism field both nationally and internationally, expanding its services with multiple train tours, train-themed tours, and many other destination options. All of this was made possible by our clear vision to diversify our services. Today, after a decade of serving the people of Costa Rica by rescuing our traditions as family entertainment, we enter a new stage where we aim to grow even more as a tour operator, both domestic and foreign.
